
The Striving & Thriving in STEM initiative is spearheaded by the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) at VCU with funding support from the Office of the Provost VCU Relevant, Experiential and Applied Learning (REAL) Challenge Grant awarded to Dr. Dina Tamar García. She oversaw the development of the campaign and assisted the team in mobilizing resources to support efforts. All activities were guided by the Striving and Thriving in STEM committee.

SACNAS at VCU

Collaborator
The Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science was established in 2020 at VCU. This student-led organization leads efforts on the recruitment of the media interns, development of the nominations process, and building and fostering partnerships across VCU.
Dra. Dina Garcia

Faculty Advisor
Dr. Dina Garcia oversees all campaign activities as outlined in the VCU REAL Challenge Grant. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior and Policy at the VCU School of Medicine, leads the Kalpulli Research Group, and serves as the SACNAS at VCU faculty advisor.

Interns & Content Creators
The Striving and Thriving in STEM media team leads campaign outreach efforts, media content creation, and social media management. Kimberly Siles is our 2022-2023 media intern. Izkalli Productions continues to provide critical support in our visual communications.
